FAQ
Are you affiliated with any other white pass outfitters?
We are not affiliated with any other persons or organizations operating under the name “White Pass Outfitters”. We were founded by owner Cody Meeske and wife Dannan in January of 2020. We are THE ONLY licensed, permitted, and registered Outfitter legal to operate in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. In the William O. Douglas Wilderness the only other permitted Outfitter legal to operate is Chinook Pass Outfitters.
What gear do I need to bring on my hunt?
The gear you’ll need to bring will depend on the package you select. If you selected a package that does not include food provisions, you’ll need to plan and bring your own food appropriate for the length of time you’ll be camping. For all packages we recommend bringing the following items with you on your hunt: Big game backpack, sleeping bag, knife, fire starting device, water or water filtration system, layered clothing appropriate for most weather conditions and toiletries.
What kind of wild game are in the area?
The William O. Douglas and Goat Rocks are home to a wide variety of big game. Most notably, elk. Mule deer, black bear and mountain goats can also be found in the area.
how do I get my HArVESTED GAME out of the woods?
Should you harvest an animal on your hunt you will be responsible for processing the game yourself. If you are on a Guided Hunt, our guides are more than willing to ASSIST you with this. It is preferred that you pack the animal back to camp if possible. If you cannot get the animal back to your camp, you will need to ensure the animal is accessible to our packing team. It’s recommended that you get the animal as close to a trail as possible at the very least.
how far into the wilderness will you take me?
We work hard to make sure we get you close to your game. How far we pack you in will depend on the game you are hunting and their current whereabouts. Our mules travel at about 2 1/2 miles an hour on the trail and we typically desire to take clients in about 5 to 12 miles. It typically takes a full day to get you to your camp spot and another full day to pack you out.
how much stuff can be packed in?
Each of our mules are capable of packing a total weight of 265 pounds. As a general rule, each mule will carry only one rider, (no double riding) or pack up to 150 pounds of gear. Individuals weighing over 265 pounds are not eligible to ride. Have a lot of gear? Additional pack animals can be provided for a fee.
